EDUCATION

Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music, Ohio Northern University, 1970.

Certification in Music Education, grades K-12, by State of Ohio, February, 1972.

Total of twenty-four and one half quarter hours of graduate work taken at Wright State University, Vandercook College of Music, and the University of Dayton.

Had attained Professional Teaching Certificate in Ohio.

Successfully completed the California Basic Educational Skills Test – April 1990.

MUSICAL TEACHING EXPERIENCE:

Private lesson instruction since 1969 and now at Kincaid’s Music in Springfield, OH.

Miami (Ohio) University Jazz Band Director, August 2007 to May 2008.

Springfield City Schools, February 1972 through 2006.  Duties included the conducting of three elementary bands, three middle school bands and one jazz band, and the conducting of two high school jazz bands.  Past experience included string teaching.

McComb Local Schools, 1970-1971 school year, as the instrumental music teacher, including band, jazz band, and marching band director at all levels.

ADDITIONAL MUSICAL EXPERIENCE:

Performed as trombonist with the Glenn Miller Orchestra (traveling), the Les Elgart Orchestra, the Holiday on Ice Orchestra, the Shrine Circus Orchestra, the Guy Lombardo Orchestra, the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, the Springfield Symphony Orchestra, the Lima Symphony Orchestra, and the Super Circus Orchestra.  Also performed as trombonist for entertainers the Four Freshmen, Urbie Green, the Temptations, the O’ Jays, the Dells, Bobby Vinton, Natalie Cole, Bernadette Peters, Red Skelton, Joel Grey, Jack Jones, Shirley Jones, Joni James, The Mills Brothers, Tommy Tune, Rosemary Clooney, Sandi Patty, Frankie Avalon, Bobby Rydell, Fabian, and Wayne Newton.

Active as arranger and composer of music as a commercial endeavor.

Contractor of musical services as a commercial endeavor.

Co-chairman of OMEA State Orchestra Contest, 1974 through 1983.

Possess computer skills in word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and Finale music-writing software.

Compose and arrange music for award-winning Kaleidoscope radio show 2000-current.

BUSINESS EXPERIENCE:

Promotion of the Bob Gray Orchestra and other bands as developer of documents for the bands and making cold calls

Booking agent of the Bob Gray Orchestra, including sales calls and client contact

Sales Representative for Motion Picture Advertising Corporation, February to September 1970.  Duties included cold sales calls of businesses and the production of commercials for inclusion in local theaters.  Additionally, creating contracts with theaters to secure agreements was a part of the duties.
